The snowstorm in Seattle and its surrounding areas these past few weeks interrupted a large amount of schedules and operations. Many people stayed in the comfort and warmth of their homes. Even still, we did our best to continue with our regular schedule and get out to the customers that needed their equipment to be serviced. Heating equipment has to work extra hard in this weather to keep homes and families warm, so our technicians worked through the snow to ensure that our customers’ systems were working properly during this time.
Regardless of the weather, we’re always ready and willing to help customers who need help with their heating equipment. It can be worrying when your furnace isn’t working properly and you don’t know what’s wrong with it. Instead of trying to fix it yourself and possibly making the issue worse, have us come out to evaluate your system and help repair it! Our diagnostic services include a full inspection of each component of the furnace and their current health status.
This past Tuesday we performed a diagnostic on a furnace for a home that was receiving no heat. In emergency situations like these, we do our absolute best to come out to customers as soon as possible and get their system repaired. In this case, we were able to get the customer scheduled in for our 5-8 pm emergency window that same day that they called. Our emergency window is, of course, reserved for emergencies and is available for customers regardless of where they’re located in our service area.
The customer informed us that their thermostat wasn’t working and they weren’t able to control their equipment. Our technicians came to their house with a thermostat on hand if it needed to be replaced. However, they found multiple issues with their furnace that would require heat exchangers and an igniter to be ordered. If we aren’t able to do the repair right away, we provide the customer with space heaters while we order parts and get the customer scheduled in again.
Because the repair would require several parts to be ordered, we also gave the customer the option to have a completely new furnace installed; sometimes this is a better value than what all of the parts and labor would cost to repair the furnace. A new furnace would also likely need to be serviced less often, saving the customer money in the long run.
As in this example, we always do our best to make our customers as comfortable with our service as possible. Our technicians present them with multiple options when possible, explaining each one in detail so that the customer knows exactly what they’re signing up for. In addition, if customers have any other questions or concerns, our office staff are always happy to address those via phone or email.
Tuesday’s job is an example of a diagnostic that unfortunately couldn’t be resolved immediately, but we assure you that our technicians and office staff will work together to get your issue resolved as soon as possible. In some cases, such as if the technicians already have the parts required for the repair or they only need to perform cleaning, the repair will be done during the diagnostic appointment at no extra cost to the customer. Parts needed for repairs can also be paid for with money earned back through our Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP) membership.
